I created this latest painting at Arato's studio as the night's musicians performed an evening intuitive jam session. Some great voices through the microphone 🎙️ enhanced the instrumental feast going on, keeping that great feeling in the air... A woman came up later after examining the painting as I worked, & was happy to tell me in her first days moving to the island to live that this summed up the emotions & state of mind she first felt. If a person connects with my work in this way that's reward in itself for me... I feel very content with the path of evolution & expression I continue to explore & grow with here.

10800 brush strokes. After watching this video clip, I was interested to see how many brush strokes went into the painting... I've been finding myself delving & developing further into this brushwork style & pace enjoying the feeling of depth, spontaneity and movement that comes with it. I counted around 80 brush strokes in that 53 second clip, if calculating conservatively at half that - say about 40 per minute, it's 2400 per hour. On the evening of this painting's initial stage & creation I was non stop around this pace for about 5 hours, if I take off half an hour of misc, mixing paint etc, at 40/min that's at least 10800 brush strokes, a number that may actually be much higher... & a significant amount of coordination & fine movements flowing together that I hadn't thought so much about before...
